John Glasby - Chair

Aberystwyth University -

Aberystwyth University is a public research and teaching university located on the beautiful Ceredigion coast. Aberystwyth was a founding Member Institution of the former federal University of Wales and has almost 8,000 students studying across its six academic Institutes. John Glasby is Head of Commercial Services at the University, responsible for a portfolio of trading operations including hospitality, conferencing & events, and sport. An Economics graduate, John has extensive experience in running commercial operations in both the public and private sectors.

Dionne qualified as an accountant in 1996 and run her own practice since 2003.  She is passionate about helping businesses maximise their potential and making the best use of today’s technology in the process.  Dionne focuses on the things clients can see the benefit of – getting their prices right, making sure the business is systemised, improving profits in other ways, MBOs and Business Start Ups, using IT to help with this and the more mundane compliance work such as bookkeeping accounts and taxation.  You will find Dionne preaching at St Paul’s Methodist Centre in Aber, in English and Welsh, periodically.


Rhiannon Rees - Treasurer

Rhiannon Rees Property -

Rhiannon Rees runs a property management and development business in Aberystwyth. In 2003 she set up The Cambria a Victorian property housing serviced offices, restaurant, therapy rooms and student accommodation. Since 2008 Rhiannon Rees Property has worked with investors and landlords to successfully manage and market their properties. In 2015 Awel Mor Holiday Apartments were established offering high quality self-catering accommodation on Aberystwyth sea front. Rhiannon returned to Aberystwyth University in 2013/2014 to complete a Masters degree in Marketing and continues her research in the property and tourism sector.

Eddy Webb

InSynch Business Services -

Eddy is Director and Owner of InSynch in Aberystwyth. Originally from Nottingham, he has lived in Aberystwyth for over 20 years. As Director of InSynch Business Services Ltd., Eddy has project managed hundreds of individual contracts, having delivered eBusiness support services and Digital Marketing service to over 2,000 business. Eddy regularly gives talks on many subjects related to business, IT and Digital Marketing and internationally recognized training on social media and search engine optimization, and other related subjects.

Nigel Kennedy

Rees Astley Insurance Brokers Ltd -

Rees Astley was established in 1969 and has been ever-present in Aberystwyth, dealing with all aspects of business and personal insurances. I moved to mid-Wales from the south-east of England and started working for Rees Astley in Aberystwyth in 2008. Following a period spent at our Newtown office, I transferred back to Aberystwyth in 2014, becoming Branch Manager in 2015. I joined the Business Club in 2016 and am looking forward to becoming more involved in the work of the Club in the future.

Tony Bates

Morris & Bates -

Tony Bates set up Morris & Bates with Gareth Morris on 1st March 1979. Anthony is former president of Aberystwyth Round Table and of Aberystwyth Law Society. He is currently secretary of Aberystwyth Business Club and a representative on the Welsh Assembly’s Image Delivery Team of the Masterplan. He is also secretary and board chairman of Aberystwyth Town Football Club and the Mid Wales representative on the Welsh Premier League Board. Tony is a father of four and a grandfather of eight.


Rhian Hayward MBE

Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus Ltd -

Rhian joined Aberystwyth University in 2009 and the Innovation and Enterprise Campus as CEO in 2017. Prior to the public sector Rhian worked in the biotechnology industry in various commercial roles in the south east of England. As part of her increasing public service Rhian is a Board member of the Welsh Industrial Development Advisory Board and the Life Science Bridging Fund Advisory Board for Welsh Government. Rhian holds a DPhil from University of Oxford, a BSc. (first class) from King's College, London and she was honoured with the MBE in The Queen's Birthday Honours list in June 2016 for services to entrepreneurship in Wales.


Aled Rees

Cambria Tours -

Born and raised locally, Aled is the Director of three successful Aberystwyth-based businesses. In 2008 Aled established his first tour operator, Tango Tours, which offers trips to Welsh Patagonia in Argentina and the rest of Latin America. Aled then founded Cambria Tours in 2013, a tour operator and Destination Management Company offering inbound services to Wales. Aled was shortlisted for ‘Rising Tourism Star’ at the National Tourism Awards for Wales in 2015 and is also Vice-chairman for the Twristiaeth Ceredigion Tourism. Alongside his tourism businesses he is also co- owner of the iconic Siop y Pethe in the centre of Aberystwyth.

Hayleigh Routledge

Hayleigh Routledge -

Hayleigh has lived in Ceredigion all her life. Established HR Bookkeeping & Accountancy Services in August 2015 after her mentor, Maynard B Samuel, suddenly passed away. Was home educated and studied at Coleg Ceredigion. Been a member of The Business Club since Spring of 2017.

Former banker (18 years) established Sterling Asset Management in October 1985. Developed and evolved Sterling Asset Management to be recognised and accepted as one of the mainstream I.F.A's in Wales and beyond. Director of Catari Investment Properties, Ha Hav, Jonathan Davies Ltd. and Sterling Wealth Management. Initial member of Aberystwyth Business Club and past chairman (3 years). Newly appointed trustee. Has acted as Treasurer, Secretary and Trustee for other clubs, societies and charitable organisations in Aberystwyth and West Wales. Patron of the Scarlets and Glamorgan Cricket.
